Shauna Denney is the owner of Heart's Desire Photography in Ashland, Alabama. Her studio is located about 8 miles outside of a town with a population of around 2500, yet remained very successful during a rocky economy in 2009. With photographers popping up on every corner these days, she's had to be very savvy in her marketing strategy in order to maintain the business it takes to operate her studio. She will share some of those strategies with us, and teach us a very simple way to maintain our clients without having to invest a lot of money in marketing.

Please come and have an evening of information sharing and fellowship.

TVPPA Membership

TVPPA membership is open to professional photographers. TVPPA is affiliated with the Professional Photographers of America, and while membership in the national organization is encouraged, it is not required. The link to the application form is at the left.

TVPPA Membership Requirement
:

TVPPA is a "professional photographers association." In order to be classified as professional, you must be able to sell your services. And in order to do that, you must be a legally established business.

You see, it's illegal to charge for your services or sell your photographs unless you have a few of the following: 1) an Occupational License (city, county, or both); 2) Sales Tax Certificate; and possibly 3) Federal ID Number (FEIN).

Selling your images without charging sales tax is illegal. And collecting sales tax without sending it to the appropiate Department of Revenue is REALLY illegal. The county, state, and IRS just loves those folks and you don't want to be one of them.

So this notice is here to assist you in taking the next step in becoming an ACTIVE professional photographer. I've found that many folks never take that next step simply because they don't know how. Please contact our President or Vice President for more information in becoming "professional".
